About the Artist
Carlos Suárez — Calé
Carlos Leandro Suárez Crespo (Calé) was born in Manzanillo, Cuba, in 1980. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Frank País García Pedagogical University in Santiago de Cuba, and taught art in his hometown for four years before dedicating himself fully to painting.
His work has been shown in more than thirty-five collective exhibitions and ten solo exhibitions to date, in Cuba and internationally, and has been recognized by critics including José Veigas Zamora, Yanet Ortiz, and David Mateo, among others.
